Still life with bronze vessels and plants,
early 20th century
This pair of images features depictions of bronze and ceramic vessels along with a gnarled miniature tree and various plants, including pomegranates, melon, and the auspicious lingzhi fungus. Made in a Chinese literati style that was popular in Korea in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, such decorative paintings often show bronzes, ceramics, furniture, or scholarly accouterments, and sometimes portray seasonal or auspicious elements. This pair is mounted in the traditional Korean two-screen manner.
